Advanced Topics in Mixed Reality (Spring 2024)

There have been major technological advances in commercial virtual and augmented reality (AR/VR) systems as well as plentiful rigorous research undertakings for improving such technologies. With those major technological leaps come many open questions and challenges in terms of human factors like perception and interaction. Those are also intertwined with specific technical challenges within mixed reality like haptics or advanced rendering systems. Human-computer interaction and related fields seek to address many of those current and future challenges. In this course, Papers from scientific venues such as ACM SIGCHI, ACM UIST, and ACM SIGGRAPH will be examined in-depth. Student present and discuss the papers to extract techniques and insights that can be applied to software & hardware projects.
